چکیده مقاله:

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) results from genetic alterations in a single lymphoid progenitor cell. Expression of ROR1 is reported to be increased in ALL and mantle cell lymphoma. In this study the expression of ROR1 was assessed in newly diagnosed patients with ALL. Methods: This study was carried out on 40 patients with newly diagnosed ALL and healthy individuals as control group. Quantification of ROR1 mRNA expression by Real Time quantitative PCR was performed. The expressions of ROR gene in patients were compared with the control group. Results: ROR1 mRNA expression (Fold Changes) in patients with ALL was 2.85±3.51. ROR1 mRNA expression in patients with ALL was significantly higher than normal individuals (P<0.001). There was not any relationship between the expression of ROR1 and cytogenetic abnormalities. Conclusion: We assessed ROR1 gene expression on mRNA of 40 ALL patients at diagnosis. The results showed that ROR1 expression had significant increase in ALL patients compared with healthy controls.

Diversity of T-cell receptor Gene Rearrangements in South Indian Patients with Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Precursor B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (precursor B-ALL) oc-curs due to the uncontrolled proliferation of B-lymphoid precursors arrested at a par-ticular stage of B-cell development. Precursor-B-ALL is classified mainly into pro-B-ALL, common-ALL and pre-B-ALL. The Common Acute Lymphoblastic Antigen CD10 is the marker for common-ALL. Objective: This study was aimed to examine the ...

Significance of Cross Lineage Antigen Expression in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Aberrant expression of cross-lineage antigens gives valuable insight into the diagnosis and prognosis of acute leukemia. In countries like India, cytogenetic tests are widely accessible. Exploring the prognostic value of an accessible test is of great importance. Therefore, establishing a population-specific immunophenotype database will enable to design an antibody panel equipped t...

Expression Analysis of Foxo3a Gene in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Southern Iranian Population

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common childhood cancer with a peak incidence in children from 2-5 years old, might be associated with poor prognosis and resistance to therapy in specific cytogenetic backgrounds. FoxO3a, a member of the forkhead class ‘O’ (FoxO) transcription factors, is a main downstream target of PI3K/AKT pathway which regulates different ...

The effect of resveratrol on the expression of MDR1 gene in leukemic lymphoblast’s of acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients

Background: Chemotherapy plays a very important role in the treatment of leukemia but the resistance properties of the lymphoblasts limit the effect of chemotherapy. One of the main mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy is the increased expression of MDR1 gene. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of resveratrol on the expression of MDR1 gene in leukemic lymphoblast of new...

Differential WNT Gene Expression in Various Subtypes of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Dysregulation of WNT signaling has been reported in many malignancies. Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the expression pattern of 14 members of the WNT gene family in different immunophenotypic subtypes of ALL. Methods: Semi-quantitative RT-PCR was performed on samples from 71 ALL patients and 36 age-matched healthy individuals. The ALL patients were categorized in...

Evaluation of FOXP1 gene expression in pediatric B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients at remission induction therapy

Background: Transcription factors (TFs) play a key role in the development, therapy, and relapse of B-cell malignancies, such as B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL). Given the essential function of Forkhead box protein P1 (FOXP1) transcription factor in the early development of B-cells, this study was designed to evaluate FOXP1 gene expression levels in pediatric BCP-ALL pat...
